Dawson Denim was established in 2012 with the aim of creating a collection of British-made selvedge workwear using traditional manufacturing techniques and considered design. The company's goal is to produce clothing that gets better with age and reflects the personal style of its founders. Each piece is made in small batches at the workshop in Hove.
Additionally, Dawson offer a range of complementary clothing that utilizes hand-selected Japanese fabrics and features understated but thoughtful design. While drawing inspiration from historical garments, Dawson Denim also creates contemporary designs with a nod to the past.
The company partners with three esteemed mills in Japan, with a combined history of around 300 years, to weave denim on traditional looms. In an effort to be more sustainable, Dawson Denim uses organic cotton and orders only what is needed to minimize waste. All garments are cut by hand using in-house developed patterns and sewn using vintage industrial sewing machines from the 1950s and 1960s, carefully selected for premium denim production. With 24 years of experience, the company specializes in selvedge denim but also offers a range of complementary clothing utilizing hand-selected Japanese fabrics.
Dawson Denim is led by Kelly Dawson and Scott Ogden.
